I love sweaters during the winter! They are very versatile. A sweater can be sexy and sophisticated, professional, cozy and comfortable or just plain cute. Here is my Saturday Wintry Blue Sweater and Handsome in Brown Collections!
Okay...I DON'T care if Tiger Woods has cheated on his wife. Most men cheat...a man will be a man. What is news about this event? I swear I'd rather be rich than famous! Before these messy ass bloggers obtained a voice, a celebrity could have SOME privacy. Its really a shame, if a celebrity farts too hard it will become news! Can we find something else 2 blog about? Instead of destroying careers and causing unnecessary commotion, can we use these platforms that reach millions for the greater good?
I don't condone and nor I am concerned with Tiger Woods actions. HE violated the seventh COMMANDMENT, "Thou shalt not commit adultery..." Exodus 20:14. It is ONLY GOD'S job to judge him and only he can truly punish him 4 his actions! We live in a judgmental society of supposedly "die-hard" Christians. However, they fail to live by one of the great bible verses, "Judge not, for ye will be judged..." Luke 6:37. Furthermore, in this country, you're guilty until proven innocent & when proven innocent...you are still guilty. I wouldn't have told y'all a flicker flying freaking thing about my personal life.
It has been confirmed that there is a problem with the United States educational system. Often the teachers are placed at fault for this failure; although I feel that the problem is more profound than that. At the present time, I believe there is a gap between the delivery of educational material and assessment of mastery. During a teacher’s entire matriculation in college, they are taught that each student learns differently. Furthermore, there is a belief that if the Differentiated Instruction method is incorporated into the pedagogy then low level students will reach the same mastery level of regular or advance students. If students with disabilities are to reach higher general curriculum standards, they need to learn in classrooms where they can both access the general curriculum, and reap the benefits of high expectations (Good, 2001; Kolb & Jussim, 1994; Lee & Smith, 1999; Rosenthal & Jacobson, 1968). How can this be accomplished with a student who has the Intelligence quotient (IQ) score of 60 in a general education class? If this student can only read on a third (3rd) grade level and write on a fifth (5th) grade level, how can I assess him on the same level as a gifted student with the IQ of 140? Brian McGarvey and his colleagues (1997) found that teachers were trying to apply the principles of differentiation in their classrooms. However, many teachers needed help incorporating a variety of different instructional skills. Teachers faced many obstacles, including difficulty in planning lessons and in adapting their teaching methods to allow for differentiation.
We are told throughout the school year to make special accommodations (i.e. narrowing choices, more time given to take tests, copy of teacher’s notes, peer tutoring) for the Special Education students. However, when it is time for them to be assessed by the county or state, these assessments are not accommodated for their specific disability or learning style. Which leads to my first question, “Are our students being assessed correctly based on their disability or learning style?” It is not that the student does not understand or did not master the material; but were the questions presented in a manner where the students could not comprehend them. It has been verified that there are currently seven learning styles which include: Linguistic, Logical, Spatial, Kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. Is it possible to hypothesize that a student needs to take assessments that are compatible with their learning style to generate and maximize more accurate assessment results?
Today I have posed to very difficult questions that can only be answered with years of research and development. However, to create a solution to a problem you must first identify that there is actually a problem present.

In life you have to know when to say when. Too often we attempt to make things work only causing ourselves more pain in the end. You must first love yourself in order for someone to truly love you. Honestly, you have to love yourself more than you love that person. If you do not, you can destroy everything you have built for yourself, chasing something never meant to be. You have to decide who you love more….them or you. Madea gives perfect relationship advice. I know this clip is old but the advice is everlasting.
Why are people enticing and perpetuating hate? It’s not like our country has a rosy picture perfect race relation past. At a time when there is the ability to heal open wounds, people are pouring alcohol onto them. I understand that there are some people that harbor hate in their heart that the GOOD LORD couldn’t remove. However, do not spread your hate and create situations that can stimulate a racially segregated environment. We have evolved a long way…but taking one step forward and having someone push us three steps backwards will not allow us to progress as a country. We are all Americans; we all bleed red, inhale O2 and have beating hearts. Stop building a hateful climate and country. People have lost their lives in an attempt to destroy the boundaries and hate you are trying to re-cultivate.
When racism is brought to anyone’s attention, one will be immediately accused of playing the “race card.” However, do you actually know what the playing the “race card” really means? Playing the “race card” means capitalizing on an opportunity through race. Simply, identifying perceived racial bias isn’t playing the race card. If we are unable to identify what’s wrong, how can we repair it to make it right? We cannot blame every black and white incident on President Obama’s America. There were incidents long before he obtained office; therefore he can’t be held accountable.
So, you have a president that doesn’t look like you. It feels weird to be on the other side doesn’t it? However, President Obama is half-white and half-black. He has just as much of you in him as he does me. You may not agree with his position on policies or his genuine desire to aid people in need; however you must respect his position. HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Right now, I am absolutely enamored with Maxwell. He's music is the epitome of sexiness, sophistication and soul. Maxwell has been in the music game since 1996. His debut album was entitled, "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite" and is my favorite album of all. BLACKsummers'night is his current project that was released this past summer. I love this particular album for its musicality, as well as, its sensuality. Currently, my favorite title from this album is, "Bad Habit." His falsetto is hypnotically soothing; furthermore, the horns and drums make you groove involuntary. This song is so passionate…here are a few of the lyrics:
"This is the highest cost, Take you and make you off Love you and leave you lost Will you forgive me? Asked out all over town Drags you and keeps you down Two times in a day around Will you forgive me?
[Verse 1:] I can't control the feeling Girl cause I know you're here I feel you from the floor to the ceiling Girl, I'll feel you when you comb your hair
Lady, when we lock it low (ah, ah) We get together, it's an overdose I'm slippin', I'm here, I'm on my knees I feels my heart's about to explode"
Check out the video below:
If you have the opportunity to see Maxwell while he is currently on tour, you should definitely take advantage of it! During the Essence Music Festival this summer, Maxwell put on an outstanding performance that left us wanting more and feeling well...ummm excited.
"Ooh I can just make you understand, that love is not a fairytale in a melody, if you want it you can have it girl, maybe you will see maybe you will see" - Maxwell

Why can't we go back to the time when we just let banks fail and people lost their money without these bailouts and FDIC insurance? What about those happy days when we could employ 10- and 11-year-olds in our sweat shops, before those child labor laws? Or stop or bust labor unions without those pesky labor laws? How about the time when you could take advantage of employees before the minimum wage laws spoiled it? Remember those good old days when old people couldn't buy food or pay their rent without Social Security or could not get health care without Medicare?
Or when poor people starved without welfare and couldn't get health care without Medicaid? And what about the greatness of G.I.'s coming home from the wars, many of them wounded, who couldn't get a college education, and now that damn government comes along with this G.I. Bill. And how about guns. 30,000 people could get killed every year and 70,000 wounded and we could have automatic weapons. Oh, wait a minute. We still have that. Forget that.
Remember when lazy, unemployed people would have to shift for themselves and just get a job, before unemployment benefits came along. Remember when we could keep "those people" out of our neighborhoods, clubs, restaurants, and jobs and discriminate against women before those damn civil rights laws were enacted. We could get lung cancer from cigarettes, take defective drugs and eat poisoned food before that meddling FDA began telling us what was good and what was bad for us. And we wouldn't have had that inefficient postal service which has been delivering our mail for more than a hundred years. Any fool could have seen that e-mail was coming and now look how much money the government is losing. And now they want everyone to have health care. I want MY America back!
"Those were the days, my friend."
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American," Carter said. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time ... and I think it's bubbled up to the surface, because of a belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country."
–Former President Jimmy Carter
Three Reasons Why I Believe Him
He has been on this earth for eighty five years. He has seen far more than I have ever had.
He is from the south; therefore due to his age, he understands the mentality of racism.
I see through the layers of bovine fecal matter. A lot of people are in denial...
It so frustrating that some Americans are allowing their personal differences to interfere with the progress of OUR country. EVERYONE deserves insurance. If you are a legal citizen of this country, you deserve the right to live your life as healthy as possible. As I waited in Urgent Care for Kaleigh to get her shot, a man and woman arrived. He explained that his family member had pierced her foot with a huge nail and it was bent inside of her foot. He then went on to explain that he did not have insurance and asked could he be billed later. The nurse said no, it was a $150.00 deposit and he would be billed the for the remainder balance. He shook his head and from his expression, I could tell that he couldn't afford it. However, she needed the nail removed and a tetanus shot. He had to pay it. This man was not an illegal alien, he was an American.
Why is everyone so angry? Are people afraid that they will reap the wrath of their forefathers? Do some people feel that white superiority is dissolving like an ice cube on a sidewalk on a hot summer day? Is it that some people will never accept an African American as their leader? Maybe African Americans were not allowed to read for this purpose. It was never the intention for us to be leaders.
For some reason or another, certain people in our country feel an certain entitlement. These people feel an entitlement to all the nice homes, jobs, cars and health care. These people do not want you to know how great they have it. It reminds me of the times where they didn't want Blacks to vote, attend the same schools or drink from the same water fountain. I feel that racism has been like simmering embers in anticipation of a catalyst. The fuel that rekindled this fire was the election of President Obama. My fear is that the emotions of the Pre-Civil Rights era will rear its ugly head. I fear that there will be so many people angry that we have an African American president; they will begin to do evil activities. I pray my visions do not come to pass.
(January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001) This is one of my favorite artists. Tomorrow will mark the 8th year anniversary of the terrible incident. I miss her sooo much.
Driving from high school, I remember listening to her in my 1992 White Ford Tempo. I was only in the 10th grade but it feels just like yesterday. We were the same age so, I could definitely relate to her music! Not to mention I thought I was one of her background dancers...I knew all the dances to every video! LMAO!
Cory Thompson, o.k. Cory-T, is owner/C.E.O. of Creative Minds Records. He was born in New Orleans, LA and started producing at the age of 18. Making his own beats, he composes his own music. Coming from a long line of musicians, Cory-T was destined to become a young success. The death of his father played a big role in his ambition towards music. He uses his creativity to paint a vivid picture of life growing up in the city as a young black male. After signing numerous deals with local record companies, Cory-T decided to put together his own record label and push his own albums independently. His first independent release entitled "First Coming" gained him some local fan base. Throughout the next years, he dropped a series of mixtapes and all together has moved 30,000 units independently in the New Orleans area. He sold albums out of the trunk of his car at local gas stations and barber shops. In 2007, he released his first single off his second LP entitled "In My System". It gained him a larger fan base in the local area and was getting a large amount of spins on Q 93.3, a radio station in N.O. and Max 94.1, a radio station in Baton Rouge, LA. His second single entitled "I'm Fresh" hit the airwaves in 2008. He has worked with local artists such as K.Gates, Shawt, Big Lou, Quarter Key, and Baby Boy. His second LP entitled "D.S.M.C. the Album" is scheduled to hit stores second quarter 2008. Currently, Cory T is grindin in search of a home with a major record label. He is also promoting his current single, "Second Line"
French researchers have identified a new human immunodeficiency virus, the first derived from gorillas, a report said Monday.
A new virus is difficult to detect by tests because it is not closely related to the other three HIV variants.
The three previous HIV variants came from chimpanzees. The new findings indicate that gorillas, in addition to chimpanzees, are likely sources of HIV, the researchers concluded in a report published in the weekly Nature Medicine journal.
The new virus, called RBF 168, was detected in a 62-year-old woman who moved to Paris, France, from the western Africa nation of Cameroon, the report says. She tested positive for HIV in 2004, and researchers led by Jean-Christophe Plantier identified the virus as being closely related to a recently discovered simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV).
The new gorilla virus "has many of the biological properties necessary for human infection," the report says.
"The human case described here does not seem to be an isolated incident, as before coming to Paris the subject had lived in the semiurban area of Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, and reported no contact with apes or bush meat," the researchers said.
That would indicate that the woman contracted the virus from another human.
The three previous HIV variants are labeled M, N and O. The new one has been classified P. The N and O variants, Fauci said, are extremely rare.
Fauci lumps the new P variant with the rare group because it has been detected in only one patient.
The new virus is difficult to detect by conventional tests because it is not closely related to the other three HIV variants.
"This demonstrates that HIV evolution is an ongoing process," co-researcher David Robertson of the University of Manchester said in a release. "The virus can jump from species to species, from primate to primate, and that includes us; pathogens have been with us for millions of years and routinely switch host species." HIV can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, which attacks the body's immune system, giving rise to lethal infections. Patients diagnosed with HIV can take medications to delay or stop HIV from developing into AIDS. There are 33 million confirmed cases of AIDS worldwide.
The most likely explanation for the emergence of the new virus is gorilla-to-human transmission, though researchers say they cannot rule out the possibility that the chimpanzee SIV gave rise to the new strain "either indirectly by transmission to gorillas and then to humans or directly by transmission to humans and also to gorillas."
Researchers said they don't know how widespread the virus is among humans.
"The human prevalence of this new lineage remains to be determined," the report says, adding that "it could be circulating unnoticed in Cameroon or elsewhere."
Co-researcher Robertson noted that the new virus may not be restricted to Africa. "It also highlights how human mobility can rapidly transfer a virus from one geographical location to another as has been dramatically evident with the recent emergence of swine flu," he said.
Now what interests me about this is that they currently have an HIV Vaccine in the experimental stages- HIV VACCINE WEBSITE . Then a new strand miraculously appears. Is HIV really a conspiracy by the pharmaceutical companies to continue the monopoly over the health care system? I mean each patient that suffers from HIV spends thousands of dollars on their prescriptions monthly. I mean people can't really be going out here having sexual intercourse with gorillas and chimpanzees…well can they?
I know one thing, everyone needs to be careful. Better yet, I would be abstinent until the situation is investigated further. It was said the original HIV drugs are not responding to this strand which makes it more lethal. Furthermore, is it known whether it can penetrate the latex condom barrier? I mean you think you are being safe but are you really?
Wow, where did the week go!?! Its Music Monday ALREADY!!! Today, I am trying something a little different. I feel that there is soooo much unsigned and unrecognized talents that are being overlooked. Therefore, I am altering my Music Monday to feature "NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS".
Today, I am featuring LeVar Thomas. LeVar was actually the first person I met on twitter. We both discovered that we have a great love for music. He told me that he was an artist and told me to check out his site www.levarthomas.com . When I heard, "Missing You" I was immediately hooked. The song takes me back to my college days riding through the country side on a sunny spring day. It has a great feel and definitely something you can ride too! Check him out!
Surrounded by a family with a great love for life and music, it must have been the destiny of South Carolina raised LeVar Thomas to become a singer and songwriter. As a child LeVar spent his afternoons at his grandparents house. He would hear his uncles blaring hip-hop in one room, his grandmother listening to gospel records in another room and his grandfather singing while tending his garden. While at home he grabbed every record his mother and father had around and listened intently to each one of them.
Thomas embarked on a journey to become a singer when he joined with 3 of his cousins to form a singing group when he was just 13 years old. Singing and writing with them helped LeVar decide that he ultimately wanted to have a career as a singer and songwriter. “ We’d sit together for hours and practice songs from groups like Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Silk & Shai. We’d also write and it was real magic to create songs that were all our own.”
Their group went on to win talent shows and get local recognition but as they took on more adult responsibilities, it was harder for them to continue on as a group. They took a break after singing together for 8 years
While doing these shows, LeVar met fellow artists who were on the same musical journey. He co-wrote and sang with these artists and further proved to himself that music is what he was born to do. He also started using the ever popular networking sites, Myspace and Youtube to broadcast himself and see how the public felt about his voice. In no time, LeVar had racked up 250,000 hits and was featured as an editors pick on his Youtube account (vazwell). In addition to that he, has been featured on music streaming sites like Imeem and became one of the first singers to win $10,000 in a global internet talent contest called Clipstar.
LeVar decided to take his career further and knew he would need a manager. He took on Jason King, owner of Superlatude Music Group and Professor at NYU’s Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music. “After I hired Jason, he helped me to be a little more savvy about what the industry was looking for. He encouraged me to write, write, write, sing out more and that being a songwriter may be a good starting point for me.”

Since the talk of reinstating Michael Vick into the NFL begun, an instantaneous battle was formulated. The battle between animal lovers vs. sports fanatics ensued. I am a strong animal and sports lover; therefore, I could not pick a side. However, I wanted to get a great point of view from a man that has played the game as a teammate with Michael Vick. Mr. Jamal “Dirty Bird” Anderson expressed his assessment on the matter. Check it out:
Michael Vick
Just say the name and people immediately have an opinion about the man’s future...or better what his future should not be. The debates and arguments will continue to rage on because we simply have to be honest. There are people out there, and a lot of them, who don’t think Vick should have even served that much jail time for the offenses that he committed. Then of course there are people who feel like his punishment was not harsh enough. I don’t really care you how feel about Vick either way, because you are all entitled to your opinions and beliefs. But one thing I do know, since Vick has plead guilty, and served his time, he has done absolutely EVERYTHING that was asked of him. Including apologizing, taking responsibility for his actions, and go to Jail early. I know the last one does not seem major, but tell me how many HIGH PROFILE people who either plead, or are found guilty actually step up and start their sentence early? And those of you who don’t think he apologized, see : Vick's Apology
He has since released a new statement echoing those sentiments now.
What Michael was apart of was wrong, and illegal, PERIOD. I only got the opportunity to play One season with Mike, but I cant tell you from my personal experience, which is far more extensive than most, the he is NOT the demon some make him out to be. I will also make no excuses for his past transgressions. But people make mistakes, and when you own up to those mistakes, and do whatever is necessary to take responsibility for those mistakes, you should be given and opportunity to resume your life, in hopes of proving to people that you have changed, that you have made amends for the wrong that was committed. I certainly believe Mike has earned that right, and I truly believe that he will turn all of this negative stuff into positives by informing others to stay away from the things he was apart of. Of course, selfishly as a football fan I anxiously await the return of the Most talented person I have ever witnessed in Football equipment. Believe me I do not underestimate when I say that. People can talk all day long about his production, or lack there of, or his consistency, or lack there of, but you cannot deny his talent, and the need to want to watch when he played to see what he was going to do next. I could get into debates about his production all day long, and several circumstances that contributed to that. This however is about Mike Vick being reinstated, and the Fact that I fully believe that he should have be reinstated. I do not think the timeframe for his reinstatement is as critical as the fact he has been reinstated. Playing in the NFL is not a right, but a privilege that must be taken seriously. I think Mike has grown, matured, and realized what he has lost as a result of his past transgressions. I also think it is time to stop the persecution, and allow this man to re-enter society, and regain the privilege of playing in the greatest sports league in America.
Sure some may pick it and protest his arrival back, but others will recognize that it is time to move on, and he has served his punishment for these crimes. I look forward to seeing what the future holds next for Mike... I am hopefully he can regain the ability & confidence that made him one of the most feared to play against, and one of most fun to watch. I guess we’ll have to just tune in, see what’s next for Vick.....

Hearing Impaired and Mentally Disabled Man Tasered
When did there become limits to how long a person can use the restroom? Antonio Love is hearing impaired and mentally disabled, he has led a very independent life in some respects. He was tasered by Mobile Police Department for staying in a Dollar General bathroom for an hour. Love said that he had gone to the restroom because he was sick to his stomach.Officers sprayed a chemical irritant into the bathroom, broke the door down and used a Taser in the process of taking Love into custody. The case against 37-year-old Antonio Love was thrown out by a city magistrate who refused to sign off on the arrest warrant. If you did not know who he was and what he was doing, what happen to asking questions? Why did this happen?
Here are a few comments from the Mobile Press Register:
Posted by Lilogla: "Most of us empathize with the handicapped. He is so sure that he was in the bathroom for only 30 minutes, not an hour like the Store Manager said. The police officers did their jobs. It didn't turn out good but they did their job in protecting us. Ask this guy about how he can tell he was in the bathroom for only 30 minutes. Do not punish these police officers, please."
Posted by 123Ibelieve: "Hearing aids don't help a totaly deaf person. HE obviously is able to hear something or he would not have a hearing. Yes, I'm deaf in one ear, no hearing aid, 45% hearing in one ear w hearing aid. I have a 10year old that certainly can understand that a police officer wants to talk to you. I have alot of empathy for the handicapped, however, this looks very odd at the least. I hope everything is checked out, not just the police. Even the handicapped should be taught to respect law enforcement."

Why?!? Why are we advertising for companies for free? These companies pay millions of dollars to advertise their products. However you are paying them to make them money. I'll let you think about that one for a while...

I must say I was very impressed with "Making His Band" that appeared on MTV last night. It was definitely more than what I expected. I admit I was very apprehensive to watch the reality show for fear of a drama relapse from previous seasons of Making the Band. However, Sean "Diddy" Combs has definitely changed the game and the total atmosphere of this show. The show really seems to be about music and artists that love their craft. The show was professional, humorous, and drama free!!! I really enjoyed the show last night! I am without a doubt looking forward to the remainder of the season! I have my favorites already! Here is a clip of Episode 1:
SLEEPING LIKE A BABY, HUH
Trey Songz is currently on a promo tour gettin America "READY" for his album release on September 1! He's been very busy and probably really tired! While on the road, his buddies decide to prank him a little...just a little. This video is hilarious!
Although Trey's album "Ready" will not be officially released until September 1, 2009, you may pre-order the album from his official website.
