Why are people enticing and perpetuating hate? It’s not like our country has a rosy picture perfect race relation past. At a time when there is the ability to heal open wounds, people are pouring alcohol onto them. I understand that there are some people that harbor hate in their heart that the GOOD LORD couldn’t remove. However, do not spread your hate and create situations that can stimulate a racially segregated environment. We have evolved a long way…but taking one step forward and having someone push us three steps backwards will not allow us to progress as a country. We are all Americans; we all bleed red, inhale O2 and have beating hearts. Stop building a hateful climate and country. People have lost their lives in an attempt to destroy the boundaries and hate you are trying to re-cultivate.

When racism is brought to anyone’s attention, one will be immediately accused of playing the “race card.” However, do you actually know what the playing the “race card” really means? Playing the “race card” means capitalizing on an opportunity through race. Simply, identifying perceived racial bias isn’t playing the race card. If we are unable to identify what’s wrong, how can we repair it to make it right? We cannot blame every black and white incident on President Obama’s America. There were incidents long before he obtained office; therefore he can’t be held accountable.

So, you have a president that doesn’t look like you. It feels weird to be on the other side doesn’t it? However, President Obama is half-white and half-black. He has just as much of you in him as he does me. You may not agree with his position on policies or his genuine desire to aid people in need; however you must respect his position. HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

Maxwell

Right now, I am absolutely enamored with Maxwell. He's music is the epitome of sexiness, sophistication and soul. Maxwell has been in the music game since 1996. His debut album was entitled, "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite" and is my favorite album of all. BLACKsummers'night is his current project that was released this past summer. I love this particular album for its musicality, as well as, its sensuality. Currently, my favorite title from this album is, "Bad Habit." His falsetto is hypnotically soothing; furthermore, the horns and drums make you groove involuntary. This song is so passionate…here are a few of the lyrics:

"This is the highest cost,
Take you and make you off
Love you and leave you lost
Will you forgive me?
Asked out all over town
Drags you and keeps you down
Two times in a day around
Will you forgive me?

[Verse 1:]
I can't control the feeling
Girl cause I know you're here
I feel you from the floor to the ceiling
Girl, I'll feel you when you comb your hair

Lady, when we lock it low (ah, ah)
We get together, it's an overdose
I'm slippin', I'm here, I'm on my knees
I feels my heart's about to explode"

If you have the opportunity to see Maxwell while he is currently on tour, you should definitely take advantage of it! During the Essence Music Festival this summer, Maxwell put on an outstanding performance that left us wanting more and feeling well...ummm excited.

I Want MY America Back: The Good Old Days

Written by Judge H. Lee Sarokin- Huffington Post, An Excerpt

Why can't we go back to the time when we just let banks fail and people lost their money without these bailouts and FDIC insurance? What about those happy days when we could employ 10- and 11-year-olds in our sweat shops, before those child labor laws? Or stop or bust labor unions without those pesky labor laws? How about the time when you could take advantage of employees before the minimum wage laws spoiled it? Remember those good old days when old people couldn't buy food or pay their rent without Social Security or could not get health care without Medicare?

Or when poor people starved without welfare and couldn't get health care without Medicaid? And what about the greatness of G.I.'s coming home from the wars, many of them wounded, who couldn't get a college education, and now that damn government comes along with this G.I. Bill. And how about guns. 30,000 people could get killed every year and 70,000 wounded and we could have automatic weapons. Oh, wait a minute. We still have that. Forget that.

Remember when lazy, unemployed people would have to shift for themselves and just get a job, before unemployment benefits came along. Remember when we could keep "those people" out of our neighborhoods, clubs, restaurants, and jobs and discriminate against women before those damn civil rights laws were enacted. We could get lung cancer from cigarettes, take defective drugs and eat poisoned food before that meddling FDA began telling us what was good and what was bad for us. And we wouldn't have had that inefficient postal service which has been delivering our mail for more than a hundred years. Any fool could have seen that e-mail was coming and now look how much money the government is losing. And now they want everyone to have health care. I want MY America back!

"Those were the days, my friend."

"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American," Carter said. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time ... and I think it's bubbled up to the surface, because of a belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country."

–Former President Jimmy Carter

Three Reasons Why I Believe Him

  • He has been on this earth for eighty five years. He has seen far more than I have ever had.
  • He is from the south; therefore due to his age, he understands the mentality of racism.
  • I see through the layers of bovine fecal matter. A lot of people are in denial...
It so frustrating that some Americans are allowing their personal differences to interfere with the progress of OUR country. EVERYONE deserves insurance. If you are a legal citizen of this country, you deserve the right to live your life as healthy as possible. As I waited in Urgent Care for Kaleigh to get her shot, a man and woman arrived.  He explained that his family member had pierced her foot with a huge nail and it was bent inside of her foot. He then went on to explain that he did not have insurance and asked could he be billed later. The nurse said no, it was a $150.00 deposit and he would be billed the for the remainder balance.  He shook his head and from his expression, I could tell that he couldn't afford it. However, she needed the nail removed and a tetanus shot. He had to pay it. This man was not an illegal alien, he was an American.

Why is everyone so angry? Are people afraid that they will reap the wrath of their forefathers? Do some people feel that white superiority is dissolving like an ice cube on a sidewalk on a hot summer day? Is it that some people will never accept an African American as their leader? Maybe African Americans were not allowed to read for this purpose. It was never the intention for us to be leaders.

For some reason or another, certain people in our country feel an certain entitlement. These people feel an entitlement to all the nice homes, jobs, cars and health care. These people do not want you to know how great they have it. It reminds me of the times where they didn't want Blacks to vote, attend the same schools or drink from the same water fountain. I feel that racism has been like simmering embers in anticipation of a catalyst. The fuel that rekindled this fire was the election of President Obama.  My fear is that the emotions of the Pre-Civil Rights era will rear its ugly head. I fear that there will be so many people angry that we have an African American president; they will begin to do evil activities. I pray my visions do not come to pass.
